There’s a lot of pressure to hold it all together — to be strong, steady, capable.

But strength isn’t about silence. Sometimes it looks like asking for help, calling a friend, or just admitting that today is heavy.

At Men Beyond Myths, we talk about the hard stuff — the parts of being a man that don’t make it into movies or highlight reels. If you’re in a dark place right now, please know this: there are people who want to help you make it through the night, the week, the month. You don’t have to do it alone.

If You Are in Crisis

If You’re Supporting Someone Else

  • Ask directly if they’re thinking about suicide.
  • Listen without judgment or interruption.
  • Stay with them if they’re in immediate danger and reach out to 988 or emergency services.
  • Follow up. A single text or call in the days that follow can mean everything.

Small Things That Help

You don’t have to fix everything overnight. Try grounding yourself in one or two simple actions:

  • Take a walk, even a short one.
  • Eat something nourishing.
  • Reach out to one person who feels safe.
  • Breathe deeply and remind yourself: I’m still here.

A Note from Josh

I’ve lost people I love to suicide. I’ve also been in moments when I didn’t want to keep going. What helped me wasn’t a single act of heroism — it was small, human connection. Someone picking up the phone. Someone listening without trying to fix me.

That’s why this page exists.

If Men Beyond Myths stands for anything, it’s that men deserve the full range of being human — to feel, to hurt, to heal, and to ask for help when they need it.

If you want to talk more about what this journey looks like, reach out. Or start by calling 988.

Your story isn’t over yet.

In solidarity,

Josh
